This year has brought challenges. The IRS is required to reconcile the tax returns and stimulus payments as well as working on the third stimulus payments due to the American Rescue Plan. With the tax season and the changes taking place all at once, a delay should be expected for full payments. They want to be diligent and are required to follow any protocols they have been issued. They will make any adjustments and additional payments as they complete the process.

Calling is extremely time consuming right now. If you want to try, call very early or very late based on the times below.

  - Customer service representatives are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, unless otherwise noted.
  - Telephone service wait times can average 15 minutes. Some telephone service lines may have longer wait times.
  - Telephone service wait times are higher on Monday and Tuesday

@tylerploss - what is on Line 30 of form 1040 of your 2020 tax return?

are you saying the refund you expected was reduced by $600?

What im saying is I was supposed to be credited the $600 stimulus with my tax return. And a turbo tax representative walked me through it. Thats how I know I did it right. But the $600 wasn't deposited with my tax return.

Then , look at Line 35a - what number is there. please post it

how much was the refund you actually received. Please post it

Based upon your replies to NCperson above, your return did include the Recovery Rebate Credit on Line 30. However, you still had some tax due based upon the difference between your taxes on Line 16 and the overall total of your payments and credits as reflected on Line 33.

Therefore, you only received a refund for the remaining amount of the credit of $236.

The amount of the Rebate Recovery Credit is based upon your actual 2020 income tax return you file. Therefore, if you meet the criteria for the credit, you will receive it when you prepare your 2020 income tax return. The credit is intended to give those who should have received a stimulus payment but never did a tax credit on their tax returns. Any excess credit is then refunded to you if there is an overpayment on your tax return.
