I did my son's 2019 taxes and I made a rounding error of $1, well of course he still does not have his 2019 refund. He and his family also did not receive stimulus money because of this. I did his 2020 taxes and tried to efile and it was rejected saying that the 2019 AGI doesn't match what the IRS has. We used Turbo Tax and that is the AGI that was sent, so we really don't know how to make it so he can efile 2020. We really don't want to mail this return since we know it would probably be a year or more before he would get his 2020 refund. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you mail the 2019 tax return? If the IRS is still processing the return (since you have not received the refund this may be the case)- the AGI would not work.

If you do not know the status of the 2019 tax return, get an IRS Tax return transcript at Get Transcript | Internal Revenue Service.

For 2020, if the 2019 is not processed, you can use zero(0) for the 2019 AGI.

You can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 for live help information. Customer service representatives are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time- try to call right at 7am.
