My husband and I had 9 children as of 2020. Our eldest was too old for the stimulus payment (turned 19 in 2020). We received $5,900 and $5400 respectively in stimulus. Turbotax determined we didn't receive stimulus for our daughter born 2020 when I was filing. My return included the RR. The IRS counted her as a dependent, as well as for our child tax credit and additional child tax credit. Clearly, the IRS found the information on our newest child to be accurate. Why wouldn't they give us the Recovery Rebate?

So for each round you got it for 8 children. The 19 was too old for both checks. So forget about the 19 year old. Then did one turn 17 in 2020? You would lose it for them.

Your stimulus check is based on the number of qualifying people listed on your tax return for 2020. You don't receive a check for the new baby necessarily, it is just based on the number of qualifying people listed on your return.

So, if you lost one qualifying person because they turned 17 and replaced that person with a new baby, you still just have 8 qualifying children.

No. All my other children are still below 17. My next eldest child isn't 17 until 2022.

$2,400 (my husband and I) + 500x7= $3500 $3500+2400=$5900

It should have been $2400+$4000=$6,400

600x9=5400 (my husband, myself, and 7 children)

It should have been $600x10=$6000

The difference is $1100

Oh sorry I meant 7 children. I was subtracting 1 for the 19 year old which left 8 children but that included the baby. So I should have subtracted 2.

So did one turn 17? The baby replaced the 17 year old. So you got paid for 7 children and you only had 7 qualifying children on your 2020 return. You don't have to pay it back for the one that turned 17.

In 2020 my children were 19, 15, 13, 11, 8, 7, 5, 2, and newborn. I didn't expect anything for the 19 year old.

The issue is that I was given child tax credit for the 8 youngest in 2020 on my taxes but somehow they didn't give me the RR for the baby born in 2020. Clearly, her SSN etc wasn't a problem if they accepted her for the child tax credit.

Something I just thought of. Go back to My Info and check ALL the birthdates on everyone even the parents. Maybe it thinks one turned 17 in 2020.

I am having the same issue. They deducted the $1100 we should have received for our baby born in 2020 also but allowed her to be used for the child tax credit. Makes no sense and very frustrating!

We know we calculated our stimulus money correct. We received money only for our 4 children born already and none turning 17. There is more than definitely an error somewhere. Not too mention we used TT and they do the calculating based on dependents.

Early March. So I don't think that's it. The IRS said they will send a notice as to why they rejected it. I will wait till I get that paper as TT and us determined there is no reason for that child to not get the rebate.

Exactly. There is zero reason for a child to be accepted as a dependent but rejected for RR.
