If you already filed your return, you cannot cancel it, change it, or get it back. If your return is accepted, you would have to amend your return to make any changes. If your return gets rejected, then nothing went through to the IRS and/or State. You can then decide not to re-e-file your return.

Once you have hit the transmit to IRS there is no cancel. This return will be processed. You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.

Now, if you just prepared it but did not submit it you can just not file it or you can clear the information from the system.

As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online.

Sign in and select a topic to continue your return.
On the next screen, from the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then Clear & Start Over (select the menu icon in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.

You just clear the information but don't start over.

If you have not paid for or filed a tax return you don't have to do anything. You can wait to get your documents or choose not to use TurboTax at all.

But you can always sign back in, and we'll be there waiting for you.
