While many taxpayers benefit from the SR version, there are those taxpayers over 65 who would benefit from an option in Turbo-Tax to print the regular form 1040. While the IRS does get the Form 1040 data, the taxpayer over 65 is prevented from printing the Form 1040; even though it is the taxpayer's preferred form for their purposes. All Taxpayers who use Turbotax pay the same price. Preventing taxpayers over 65 from printing a regular Form 1040 is a clear form of age descrimination.

Appears this 1040-SR TurboTax printing requirement for those of us over 65 is an age-related form of discrimination since we have no choice.

It's exactly the same as Form 1040, but the print is larger; and was developed because the IRS was getting complaints that the type size was too small for older eyesight, especially by those taxpayers who fill the form out by hand.

Sorry if you are over 65 the online version gives you the 1040SR. It is the same as the regular 1040 just larger print.

If you use the Desktop program you can switch to forms and the Info Wks part II has a selection to select 1040SR or not. You can not change it in the Online versions. In the Online version if you want to use the regular 1040 form, you can print out the 1040SR and copy the amounts onto the 1040 and then mail your return.
