topic Why is my TT Premier reporting an error in saving the file and then shutting down? in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I purchased a TT CD from Amazon. While trying to do my taxes, the program arbitrarily warns that it will need to shut down and freezes. I then try to save the file but receive message that this can't be done and I may lose data! There is an error code which begins, I think, with 57......but the shut-down happens so quickly that I can't read it.

Thus, I am constantly losing or having to confirm data entered. At this rate, it seems that I will never finish my taxes! I have tried periodically going online to up-date the program which supposedly saves my file to mitigate further damage.

I appreciate in advance any assistance to stop this irritating sequence of events.

Thanks for the helpful suggestion-- and reaching out with concern. Unfortunately, nothing seems to work. I spoke by phone to a TT representative and was told that the fix was to update Windows !0 which I did. There was no problem for a week and then today it happened again. I tried to save the file in multiple ways but Error 567809 kept appearing, and eventually the program just shut down and re-opened! A lengthy call with another TT rep. ended with the advice that I would have to erase my file and start over! After weeks of work with some information included which cannot be redone, I will not do this. Meanwhile, I try to go online periodically to check for updates. This automatically saves the file so that I won't lose whatever I enter after that point. But then I have to recall what I recently entered so as to redo. This may lead to duplication errors.

Hopefully, TT will have more specialized techs. who can analyze the problem rather than just read off suggestions when I call on Monday.
