Why am I not able to efile my 2019 amendment?

I went through the steps on https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/00/27577 and I don't see this option to Amend using TurboTax Online.

In the screenshot you provided, on the right hand side , there is an Amend(change) 2019 return.

You can select that, then follow the on screen prompts to amend your return.

When I click on that and go through the prompts, why do I get this message?This is my 2019 amended return that TurboTax says I can e-file

Unfortunately, you will have to print and mail your 2019 Amended return. You cannot e-file these. For further details, please see the Help Article here.

Absolutely incorrect indeed! The option to e-file 2019 and later has been published in articles from turbo tax and irs respectively for over a YEAR. In addition ive seen various tax professional forums state they have e-filed successfully for their clients using intuit pro series as well as the general versions. We need to keep this thread going until a solution is made. you will not see a successful 1040x Paper filed being accepted until deep into 2022 at this point imo. Efiling is the only way to update it f you need it now.

I have viewed multiple threads and am still confused why the IRS and TurboTax documentation say you can efile amended returns for tax years starting in 2019 but the software directs you to mail your returns in. I have gone through that process for my 2018 return and it took almost a year just for the IRS to acknowledge they received it.

Posting here again in 2022 with the same question. Why can't we efile amended returns with TurboTax?

Even thou the IRS allows prior year amended returns to be efiled the TT program does not allow it. So your choice is to mail in the return or find a local professional who can efile a prior year amended return and pay them a fortune to do so. Either way expect the amended return to take more than 6 months to process.
