Great, thanks! I keyed in everything from the 1099 exactly as it appeared, but later TurboTax asked me for my business name and business address, so I was uncertain. I will list my Colorado address as the business address, thank you so much!

1099-NEC Question

I worked in Colorado at a company in 2020 before covid hit. After covid, I was laid off, but later was allowed to come back to work as a non-employee doing contract work. Towards the end of 2020, I moved to NC. The company I did this work for sent my 1099-NEC with my new address in NC on it, not my address in Colorado. My question is, when I am doing my taxes and entering the 1099 info, when I list my "business address", do I list my old home address in Colorado since that's where I earned this income, or do I list the NC address that is listed on my 1099-NEC? This is the first 1099 I've ever received, so I'm not sure how I should handle this.

Enter the NEC exactly as it was prepared. If the IRS needs to contact you, they will do it at your current address.

If you have expenses related to your contract work in Colorado you can claim them by using TurboTax Self-Employed. On the TurboTax Self-Employed (or Desktop TurboTax Home and Business) you will use the Colorado address as your business address for the self-employment income and expenses.

In 2020, Form 1099-NEC is being used to report non-employee income.
