That will be fine. Both numbers will properly identify the company that prepared the 1099.

The basic difference between EIN and TIN, is that the :

Tax Identification Number is used for the tax purposes of the company, and when that same number is used to record the taxes of the employees, it is called EIN.
An EIN is required to hire employees, or start your business, but you don’t require a TIN for the same reasons.

TIN stands for “Taxpayer Identification Number”, and EIN stands for “Employer Identification Number”, but these both refer to the same thing: a 9 digit number assigned by the IRS to identify a new entity, either a business entity such as an LLC or Corporation, or entities like a Trust or an Estate of a Deceased Individual. This is not straightforward or intuitive, but you do NOT need to have or plan to have employees to obtain an EIN (Employer Identification Number). This is just a general term to refer to a Tax ID Number for an entity. But, there are also OTHER types of “TIN”/Tax ID Numbers…that are different from a basic TIN or EIN. These are explained below, such as an ITIN, which is an “Individual Taxpayer ID Number” but this is only for people who do not have an SSN.

How can I fix my rejected returns. Message was the EIN did not match my W-2's They were not W-2's, they are 1099-R's and they have TIN's not EIN's.

The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and the Employer Identification Number (EIN) are somewhat interchangeable for IRS matching when e-filing your tax return.

Double check your entries for the 1099-Rs in your return. Also when it hits the IRS e-file system the number is being matched with the name of the company so confirm the company name is spelled exactly right. If you find your entries are correct, then contact the payer to confirm the information you have on your forms.

Once everything is confirmed and/or corrected try to submit your return again for e-file. If it continues to reject you will have to file your return by mail.
