I'm unable to import my W2 even though my employer has made it available online. After I enter the EIN as per instructions, no screen appears that would permit an import. Instead, it prompts me to manually enter the return. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks in return.

Making your W-2 available to you online is not the same as partnering with TurboTax to allow W-2s to be imported. It sounds like your employer, or your employer's payroll service, is not a TurboTax import partner. The list of import partners is at the following link.

TurboTax Import Partners

In any case, it only takes a couple of minutes to enter a W-2 manually. Entering it manually will be a lot faster and easier than trying to make the import work.

As it happens, my employer is indeed a partner and I've done the imports in previous years without a hitch. Moreover, my employer provides step by step information on importing W2 to Turbotax, which I've followed to the letter. It just doesn't make sense and I'm still hoping I can avoid having to manually enter the figures.
