The 2020 return was immediately accepted. Thanks! I have no idea why Turbotax would not suggest this as a possible next step as opposed to just sending the same information again.       <description>&lt;P&gt;I think this is related to the death of the 2018 joint file Primary Taxpayer.&amp;nbsp; Turbo tax did everything behind the scenes after i put them in as deceased.&amp;nbsp; Never had this issue in years of using turbo tax.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I followed the instructions and resent per Turbo Tax.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If I have to manually file I demand a refund of the State e-filing fee ($19.99) I paid and can't use because of TurboTax issues.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Note to Intuit:&amp;nbsp; Fix this fast or I will never use your product again and tell all my friends in person and social media!!!!!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I also received this code --&amp;nbsp;-&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I confirmed the correct AGI for 2018 was used (I got the tax transcript from the IRS website). Resubmitted -- same error. My spouse also (like another person I saw asking about this error) died in 2019. The error refers to the primary taxpayer. My spouse was listed first.&amp;nbsp; I indicated the death, and at filing TurboTax just has me signing.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The PIN was auto-populated by TurboTax for me. I don't have a record from last year to confirm it was correctly brought forward (filed last year with Turbotax).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So I am not sure what to do next -- is the error because the IRS is expecting an AGI or PIN for my dead spouse? Is the error something else? I would just mail it, by NYS require I efile. I can't efile for the state (within TurboTax) until I efile the Federal.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any help will be appreciated? &lt;P&gt;Your only option is to print and mail the tax return.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;You will have to print and mail the NY state tax return also.&amp;nbsp; A state return cannot be e-filed using the TurboTax software if the federal tax return is not e-filed.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;New York allows mailed tax returns from paid tax preparers if the tax program being used does not support electronic filing.&amp;nbsp; But your tax return is self-prepared so does not fall under the New York tax preparer mandate.&lt;/P&gt;

Like others, I just answered the questions and everything worked until the IRS rejected the filing. I also paid the $24.99 filing fee for Minnesota only to find they rejected the filing also. If I understand correctly, I need to do the following:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-Print and file the Federal Return&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-Print and file the Minnesota Return&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;-Fight with TurboTax to get the refund of the Minnesota filing fee (or tell the credit card company to halt payment.)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is that correct?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
