Unable to import from Wealthfront - getting password error

I am unable to import my Wealthfront 1099 into Turbotax Premier using the App-specific password. I keep getting an incorrect password error. Also:

1. It won't let me copy and paste the password into Turbotax - I have to manually type in the auto-generated password.

2. It appears that the Turbotax password field has fewer characters than are being generated in the Wealthfront password.

Has anyone else encountered this and figured out how to move forward?

I am having all the same issues you are facing when trying to import Wealthfront statement.

TurboTax, please update the password field to enable 4 additional characters needed to input the entire password. Please also enable pasting into the field.

Please see the TurboTax FAQ's below for assistance importing 1099's, if you are receiving a password error. If the feature is currently not available, you may also enter manually: Select I'll type it in myself or Skip Import and proceed.

@Cass0317, the password field does not allow enough characters to input the password (4 too few for me). This is a software bug that needs to be raised and addressed.

I have hundreds of lines on my document so I don't want to manually input each of them.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, inputting the 1099 in manually for a brokerage account is not a practical solution as there are many lines of supported data that get reported. That is why the ability to import is needed. The real question is when will Turbotax correct the flaws in the software? The fixes required are:

adding the 4 characters to the field length in the password field
enabling the ability to paste the password into the field

@taxuser56 You may need to check your brokerage to see if they are allowing third-party access. Although the following Help Article is for Schwab, it is possible that your brokerage has restricted TurboTax's access to your statements unless you grant consent, and you might need to do something similar to what is described below:

here is a link provided by wealthfront about importing into turbotax or similar applications. don't know if it will help but wanted to put the link out there. The amount of data I would have to manually type into turbotax is way too much too deal with. I believe there is a bug in turbotax with the import of data from wealthfront. there is a way to submit a bug report using the contact us page. If you have not submitted a bug report then please do so. Also if anyone talks to wealthfront and gets some info please share it on this thread. Hoping we can get this resolved at some point soon.

The great news is that user tax2019-iinnttuuiitt came up with a tool to allow you to paste the password into TurboTax! The field is definitely large enough to fit the password. I used this solution to import my 1099 from Wealthfront earlier today.

Intuit claims that they disable being able to paste passwords AND MASK THEM, so you can't see what you're typing as a security measure. It is one of the most brain-dead (and tone-deaf, since users have asked for it to be changed for years, apparently) answers I have seen on this (or any) board, especially when you come up against this ridiculous 32 character password that Wealthfront insists on using. Fortunately there is a solution.

using the method detailed about I was able to import my wealthfront tax data, thanks to the poster who put out the solution to paste the app generated password into turbotax. worked like a champ and I am one happy guy.

Glad it worked for you. Not allowing you to paste in passwords in TT is bad, but masking the field so you can't even see what you're typing is beyond ridiculous. And WF is crazy for having such a long password given that TT doesn't make it easy to enter, although their implementation isn't exclusive for the use of TT.

I am having the same problem. It is absolutely ridiculous to not allow pasting of strong passwords. I am 100% sure I typed the password in correctly, though. I copied the masked value into notepad and compared it with the original. They match, but TurboTax still does not accept it. Also, a one hour wait for phone support is ridiculous. I can't believe I paid over $100 for this.

@prebrook, did you try the tool I pointed to in my earlier post. Also, when you created the app-specific password in Wealthfront did you correctly spell Turbotax as one word?

And I also can't believe that you spent $100 on TT. Dd you have to buy extra states?

CarissaM, that is an incorrect answer. Wealthfront is definitely allowing importing of data by third parties, I just did it this weekend. In fact, they have a new unique password that has to be set up for each application, and it is a long and ugly 32 character code. Turbotax is foolishly not allowing users (CUSTOMERS) to paste the password into the field, and even worse they mask the field, so you cannot even see what you're typing to make sure you have not made any errors.
