Form Availability

It says online that forms 8949 and 8960 for form 1041 are available for both paper filing and efile. I have turbotax business and it will not update for those forms. Is it indeed possible that the efile versions are not available yet? I spoke with turbotax and they were at a loss. Help!

According to the IRS forms availability table for TurboTax Business FAQ, those forms are estimated to be available sometime 2/11/2021.

The purpose of Form 1041 is for the fiduciary of a domestic decedent's estate, trust, or bankruptcy estate to report:

• The income, deductions, gains, losses, etc. of the estate or trust;

• The income that is either accumulated or held for future distribution or distributed currently to the beneficiaries;

• Any income tax liability of the estate or trust;

• Employment taxes on wages paid to household employees; and

• Net Investment Income Tax.

Today is 2/11/2021 and I still get a message saying that Form 8960 is not available yet.

The IRS is not accepting returns yet this could be the reason. This FAQ will provide more information.

Those are 1040 Forms, I am looking for trust forms associated with Form 1041. The IRS online availability says the forms are indeed available, but my TurboTax Business says they will be available soon. There is something wrong either with my version of TurboTax Business or with the IRS form availability site. Either way, I need the forms sooner rather than later.

Form 8960 is in today's update, if you're using TurboTax for Business (LLCs, trusts, estates, etc). I was finally able to complete and efile my respective 1041 today (2/13/2021). If you allow get TurboTax to look for updates, you should now be set. Good luck!

I was able to update and prepare my fiduciary return the following day, thank you.
