TurboTax follows the IRS guidelines for acceptable ZIP codes. If the 2-letter state abbreviation does not match the ZIP code, you will receive an error when attempting to e-file. 99% of the time it is because the state abbreviation is wrong, so double check that first.

Should you receive this error:

Double-check that you entered the correct 2-letter state code. (click the link to verify)

Make sure you've entered the ZIP code in either 5-digit or 9-digit format, for example, 12345 or 12345-6789.

Look up the correct ZIP code for the street address in question.

If problems persist, please contact TT Customer Service for further assistance.
