      <description>&lt;P&gt;No.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;If you are still legally married you cannot file as Single.&amp;nbsp; Your choices are married filing jointly or married filing separately&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; OR---if you are the custodial parent of the children you might be able to file as Head of Household.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Do you have the children?&amp;nbsp; Have you lived apart for at least the last six months of 2020?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Your soon to be "ex' needs YOUR SSN in order to file, too.&amp;nbsp; If you just cannot get the ex to cooperate at all--even through your attorney-- then file separate returns and hand write NOT AVAILABLE for his SSN and mail your return--you will not be able to e-file it.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Another thing to try---did you file joint returns in the past?&amp;nbsp; Get a transcript or a copy of a past return from the IRS...his SSN will be on it.&lt;/P&gt;
