What do you mean by help with "getting" unemployment? If you mean you need to get unemployment compensation, you have to deal with your state's bureau of unemployment for that. TurboTax is not involved in any way with helping you to obtain unemployment compensation. Your state will have a web site where you can apply for benefits. What state are you in?

If you mean you have been receiving unemployment and need to enter it on your 2020 tax return, see this:

Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return. Enter your 1099G for unemployment in Federal>Wages and Income>Unemployment

You might need to get your 1099G from the state’s unemployment site when it becomes available in January.

STATES THAT TAX UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO, NB, NM, NY,NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, RI, SC, UT, VT, WV, WI

Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return. Enter your 1099G for unemployment in Federal>Wages and Income>Unemployment. You might need to get your 1099G from the state’s unemployment site.

STATES THAT DO NOT TAX UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFI

I live in Florida and my wife collected unemployment. They withheld Federal Income Tax but your system has no way to enter this information for Florida. Your system does not know that Florida DOES withhold tax.

What can you do to solve this problem before I get H&R Block software?

You can enter federal and state taxes withheld when entering form 1099G information in TurboTax in the "Wages & Income" tab.

Scroll down to "Unemployment"

"Start/Revisit" the "Unemployment" topic

Select "Government form 1099G" and

choose "yes" or "no" for the repayment question

"Continue"

You will be able to "Edit" any 1099Gs already entered or "Add another"

The next page will show you boxes 1 and 4 for federal information as well as boxes 10 and 11 for state withholding and even boxes for local withholding.
