How to tansfer 2019 PDF file created by TurboTax to 2020 TurboTax

My .tax2019 file for the 2019 return created by TurboTax Premier is missing from my computer (PC with Windows 10), but the PDF file is intact. I noted instructions to use the Zamzar website to convert the PDF file to TXF format which could be read by TurboTax. Howeve, there is no TXF format to convert to on the Zamzar website. Will appreciate any guidance on how to convert the PDF file to a TAX file for TurboTax.

I should have added that TurboTax cannot read the PDF file.

If you don't have the main .tax2019 file you might have one that starts with a Tilde sign ~ like "~your name.tax2019". That file is if your computer crashes or your real file gets lost or deleted or corrupt so you can restore it.

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2019 installed? Try opening 2019 program and see if you can get your 2019 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. Then save it again with a name and place you can find. Go to File - Save As.

I am having the exact same issue , i CAN NOT transfer my 2019 PDF file into my 2020 Turbo Tax

Does anybody have any ideas how to get it converted so it can be read by TurboTax

Since a pdf only transfers limited info like name and address you are not saving much by transferring. If you can't transfer it just start a new 2020 return.

Where did you get the pdf? Are you trying to transfer it into the online version or the Desktop program?

You need to have the actual electronic pdf file not a printed or scanned copy. And then it only transfers your basic personal info. See the last section here. Or you will just have to manually enter any it needs as you go along.

Transfer pdf to Online version. See the section if you used other software last year.
