I don't know if it's the Federal limit or a state limit that is preventing your efile, since they can be different. I think the Federal will allow up to 35 characters, but a state on its forms may have a lower limit.

In any case, you can go back to the MY INFO section, choose to edit that portion. You can shorten the occupation by rephrasing it, shortening it, or abbreviating some of the words, such as

"secondary physical education teacher" shortened to "phys ed teacher" or "PE teacher", etc.

What you enter for your occupation is not important, and does not affect your tax. So don't worry if the shortened version is not as precise or detailed as you would like it to be.
