Yes you must file a return if you have income that requires a return to be filed. Even if your income is too low to require you to file a return, you should file to get a refund of any federal tax withheld.

You are required to file a return if you had more than $400 of 1099-MISC income in order to pay self employment tax.

If you file, make sure you indicate on your return that you can be claimed by someone else.

I wish I knew how to I did everything I just don’t know how to go back and edit I don’t know what to click on... when I get to the end I got this message

If you are getting the message because you did not check the box in Personal Info that you can be claimed by someone else, then just go to Personal Info and check the box and resubmit your efile.

This message more often occurs when someone has used the non filer portal to register for the stimulus payment.
