He receives a 1099-MISC every year and another tax prep online co I have used in the past allows for other income not reported on a 1099. I haven't been able to find such a place on turbo tax to report income received that isn't reported by anyone (amounts under the required 1099 $600 or just handed to him in cash). It is frustrating to not be able to review the state returns either - I feel like one of my state deductions is way off but have been unable to find a 'review' format that says what question I answered where the info came from or if it automatically came from the federal return. VERY FRUSTRATING!

If he get a W-2 form the church (most pastors) and also has side income, report the side income on a self-employment business -- he is in the same situation as an employee who "moonlights" as an independent contractor in the same field. Set up the self employed business using occupation code 813000. You will be asked first about any 1099-MISC, but later you can enter "other income not on a 1099-MISC".
