You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version.

Yes you are the owner of your own self employment business. You are in business for yourself. Use your own info. The people or company that pays you is your customer or client. You need to fill out schedule C for self employment business income. You are considered to have your own business for it. YOU are the business.

Is your question about how to enter a 1099 or about the cost of Turbotax when you upgrade to self-employed version? It is more expensive to file with the on line version then to buy the cd/download. If your total income from all sources is less then $39k. then you might use the free file version https://freefile.intuit.com/

Thanks for the response. I understand that and did all of that. Shouldn’t I owe state taxes as well as federal taxes? Why is turbo tax telling me I owe no state taxes?
