printing a second (non-resident) state return

I received a late K-1 from an estate settlement in MD. I had filed federal and VA state taxes. I purchased MD state from Turbotax, so that I could generate the amended returns and the MD state return. At the end of the process, Turbotax generates the amended returns, but does not generate the MD state return. When working on the MD return, I could see that I owe tax (displayed in the box at the top of Turbotax). How do I get the forms and filing instructions?

More information may help resolve your issue. For example, are you using TurboTax Online or a Download/CD version of TurboTax, and did you "Add a State" in the State section of TurboTax?

Hi, I am using turbotax deluxe that I bought at Costco and downloaded. I did use "add a state" to get the MD tax software. I can see how much I will owe Md at the top of the screen. When I go through the checks and get to the print/save screen, it says "Step 1: Print your amended returns" and "Step 2: Mail your amended returns". There is no step for printing /saving the MD return.

I started with "Amend my return", as I had to amend the federal return before starting the states. It went through the MD return steps like it was doing it for the first time (which it was), but it doesn't give me a way to capture that.

Check the PDF that is created from the "Print your Amended Returns" step, for a Maryland state tax return. If there is a Maryland Form 502 in that file, along with a Maryland Form 502X, you should be able to use just the Form 502 as the original Maryland tax return, and ignore the Form 502X.

If the PDF of the amended returns has only a Form 502X, and does not include a Form 502 that can be used as the original return, go to Forms mode (icon top right in blue bar) and find the Form 502 and any supporting schedules. You can print them from there, or in Step-by-Step choose File>>Print from the top menu and find the Maryland tax return forms you need for the original filing, and choose to print them from there.
