As long as no one else can claim her as a dependent on their return, she can get the personal exemption for herself on her return. She should not enter herself as a dependent. Simply by entering her name, SSN and other personal information and NOT marking the box that asks whether someone else can claim her, TT will give her a personal exemption for herself.
