<P>I goofed and used the non filer: ENTER YOUR PAYMENT DETAILS(notice that doesnt read FILE YOUR NIL TAX RETURN) very early after it was introduced on 4/10. Many responses include condemnation for the error MANY of us made, but that set-up looked nothing like a return. It was a half page, 2 tab flim flam looking script a jr high class could have engineered. And it was misleading. I understand that NOW the associated guidance includes very clear warnings but early in its inception it wasnt that clear.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>A person who had not filed taxes in recent years and had YET to file their 2019 return and also a person struggling and panicking that the IRS gets their deposit info, is the prime candidate for this error.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>This is large scale whoopsiedaisy and it should warrant us a workaround fix so we may go ahead and efile our returns. We get our refunds, the IRS doesnt get a boatload of extra paper returns.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>If the IRS is really going to stand behind it's new <A href="https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-modernization" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MODERNIZATION PLAN</A>&nbsp; ... this would be a prime candidate situation to show us.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>What's the benefit of mailing a paper return? Nothing. It can get lost. Someone could discern my 1s for 7s. It's nothing more than some antiquated form of punishment and it should be abolished. Efiling is more efficient, accurate and saves taxpayers money reducing the "old number2 and paper" returns.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Come on uncle Sam... help us out. This is our first time doing corona. It's your first time doing corona. We mess up it costs us 6 months waiting. You mess up ... we can like it or lump it. We learn from our mistakes. Delete those bogus nil returns now. <P>The second one should had been rejected due to 2 returns with same social securities numbers.</P><P>You should had got an email from whichever company processed the second one stating "rejected".</P><P>So, yes...when they process the second one it will be flagged that the number(s) have already been used.</P><P>Then they'll reject it.</P><P>If it had been from the portal for non-filers you wouldn't have to amend cuz the company is who rejects it. The IRS doesn't know about it.</P><P>I don't know how the IRS will deal with the paper one.</P><P>I agree with the CPAs,, let them tell you that it has to be amended.</P><P>I'm not positive it will have to be.</P><P>&nbsp;</P>

<P>Hi Spata1357, thank u for ur response. But, we already filed 2019 tax return and it is already in process before I fill out the non filer form. This year tax filed as married filing jointly. Also, if IRS were suppose to void then I should have got the rejection email saying that my ssn was already used but instead I received "IRS accepted my return". So, this was the confusion as I thought I messed up our return.&nbsp;</P>

<P>As of right now, I have not found a for sure answer. Ive been told that if you filed the nonfiler form then you wouldn't be able to file taxes normally for 2019. That I have to print out and mail in an amended tax return. However the IRS website says it's still not processing paper returns at this time so I haven't done anything with that.</P><P>I still have not received the stimulus check either, so I do think I have slowed down the process even tho my nonfilers form wasn't accepted. I left it alone after finding out that I didn't need to file it being on SSI.&nbsp;</P>

I got the stimulus check deposited two weeks ago, too. I think for now the best choice is just wait for IRS's feedback. I'll wait for their decision on my real tax return and then take actions as needed, as suggested by multiple CPAs.</P>

<P>Priya, you dont mention how your husband files, be it efile or paper. If hes already efiled&nbsp; or had his paper return processed then you're both golden for now. It may become an issue later on if ur husband claimed you as a dependent for 2019 and you successfully filed for and are receiving a stimulus check, but it will probably be ages from now after things have returned to normal, if ever.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Or, they may never catch it. It's a simple mistake LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE MADE without malice or ill intent. It wont be viewed as "trying to get over" or anything like that.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>My suggestion is ENJOY THAT $1,200 GAAAAAL! lol</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>But I'm no expert. <P>Thank you for you response. One other question. I just checked the IRS website to see where to send my amended return and there are two different addresses for 1040 and 1040x. Since I am amending my non-filers return with my 1040 and a cover letter should I send this to the address for the 1040? Or since I'm sending the 1040 in as an amended return and will be writing "1040x amended return" on top of the paper 1040 per your reply should I send this to the address for 1040x? <P>Question.. I filled out a non-filer form for my husband because he has not worked any in 2018 or 2019 due to an accident so no income at all. I accidentally clicked he CAN be claimed as a dependent and I have no clue why I did that. I assume I rushed though it. How can I get that changed on his 1040X forms so he can receive his $1200. <P>Hi,</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Isn't there anyway to contact IRS and ask them to withdraw/cancel the false non-filer return?</P><P>This is the first year I wanted to e-file my tax return on TurboTax but it didn't go through because of multiple ssns error at the end... so I figured I made the same mistake! :(</img>&nbsp;</P><P>If there is any other way to withdraw or cancel the non-filer please let me know.
