always fails. It says it is going to cancel the update, not to worry it will work fine once I open it.

I go to open it and it wants to update again.

Any tips on how to get out of this cycle?

There are a couple of things that you can try to get past the snag,

Try closing TurboTax,
Compete a disk cleanup,
Restart your computer.

If this doesn't work try this:

If you've enabled pop-up blocking in your web browser, please turn it off and try again.
If it's still not working, try again using a different web browser. (For example, if you're using Chrome, try using Explorer or Safari instead.)
If those suggestions didn't help, try going back to your first browser and delete cookies.

Thank you for your reply Regina

I should have been more detailed in my note. I am using a Mac and my issue is with the app. I am not using the website to do my taxes.

Is there a solution for the app? Maybe I should delete it and reinstall it? I do worry about losing what I have done so far, but my guess is that is saved in a different location.

There are some known mac issues. Earlier this week, Error code -36 during TurboTax for Mac installation

This was just updated, "TurboTax needs to check for Updates" loop when attempting to e-file on Mac

Do save your .tax file before doing anything! It should be saving automatically but better safe than sorry.
