Prior returns history missing

Using TurboTax Premier 2019, but it doesn't show the 2018 amounts in most fields (e.g., no prior years history on the tax history page). Was there something I did wrong when I imported the 2018 data?

It depends.

Make sure you are logged in using the same account that you did your taxes last year.

If you are not sure of your information used last year, see the attached Help for instructions on how to recover your login.

I am using TurboTax Premier on a Mac, as I have for years. All the prior files are stored on this Mac, so there should be no problem for the software to find the files. In looking at the link you sent me to, I think what I might have done inadvertently is to import last year's data from the .pdf version of the 2018 tax file, instead of the TurboTax format file. If that is the case, is there anything I can do to reimport from the tax file, or do I have to begin all over with a new return?

If you import data from the PDF file, it imports a lot less data than when you import from the .tax file. Saves you a little typing but most carryovers are omitted and you would need to enter them again.

To import the data from the .tax file, you would need to start again. You can import in the beginning, but once you start you can no longer import.

Thanks for confirming where I went wrong and that I must start over. I just wish the software would have warned me that I would not get a complete transfer unless I used the tax file instead of the .pdf formatted file version. It’s a pretty simple fix, or did I just miss it?
