Unearned Income For children ages and 6

In 2018 my Grandchildren ages 5 and 6 received Unearned income from their deceased mother. The yearly income totals were $2040 from Teacher's retirement and $2976 from Social Security for a yearly total of $5,016 per child. It is my understanding that I need to file taxes for each child, is this correct?

Thank you for the response. Can I use their father's drivers license info? I am stuck at this point as Turbo Tax is asking for their Drivers License or State ID info and I do not know how to proceed.

Yes, you can use their father's drivers license information since they don't have licenses of their own!
