I was in MA from Jan-Aug 2019 and I have a 1099-HC form for that period. I moved to WA from Sep-Dec 2019 and was covered by my employer's health plan. However, they did not provide me with a 1099-HC form. What should I use now to file MA state return taxes? How do I show that I was covered for the entire year with different providers both of which meet the Minimum Creditable Coverage (MCC)?

I take it that you only lived in MA until August. So you were covered for the entire year that you lived in MA, Washington does not have the same state Health Care requirement that MA does.

I was told that since I spent more than 183 days in MA during 2019, I am a full-year MA resident. And full-year residents need to have MA insurance for the entire year. Even for the period they were not in the state. I don't know if this is true but this is what I have been told.

All you need is the 1099-HC that covers the period of time you lived in MA.

From the Mass.gov site on Health Insurance: "If you moved out of Massachusetts during the year, the health care mandate applies to you up until the last day of the last full month you were a resident."

Since you moved from MA to WA, you will be a part-year resident of MA and a part-year resident of WA.
