topic Is it normal for my federal refund to differ when trying to file in turbotax and credit karma? in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I'm trying to file my taxes but turbotax charges me for adding my 1098T and credit karma does not however my federal refund in turbo tax is much higher than what my federal refund for credit karma is. I was wondering if it's normal? Because if it is, then I would file with turbotax because it would only take $100 away and I would still have a bigger refund than what credit karma is telling me.

1) the tax law is complex.

2) the q&a can be confusing.

3) the software is not really intelligent and still allows you to make errors.

For best results, you should have some idea of what you're doing, since you are self-preparing.

if it is your first time filing and you are a student under age 24 at the end of 2019,

it is your parents who should be entering your 1098-T on their return. And you do not, unless you got scholarship money that you did not pay to your university.
