      <description>&lt;P&gt;if your part-time income exceeds $4200 for the year then you will not qualify as a dependent.&amp;nbsp; So you would select that you cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.&amp;nbsp; If that is not true then they may be able to claim you as a dependent and you would select that someone else can claim you.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;For review here are the rules for claiming a dependent.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;You can be claimed if they paid for more than half of your basic living costs &lt;U&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;and&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/U&gt;:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;UL&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;You lived in their home for the entire year (all 12 months).&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;You made less than $4,200 (not including Social Security or welfare).&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;You were single. There's a small exception if you were married (if you file jointly only to get a refund of taxes paid, or, if you file separately, neither you nor your spouse has any tax liability).&lt;/LI&gt;
 &lt;LI&gt;You’re a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, U.S. national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico.&lt;/LI&gt;
