8615 error problem

8615 on my son's return is causing a review error because it wants me to check one of two boxes, that parent's will claim amount on their return or both parent's were deceased etc. Son's info is correct, it shows that he will be claimed by someone else (me). Not sure how solve this issue?

I believe there should be a question that asks you if you want to claim your child's investment income on your taxes by filing a Form 8814 Parents’ Election To Report Child’s Interest and Dividends. If you say Yes, that's why you will see this question in the Review section. You might want to change it to "No" to avoid the issue.

Are you referring to a refund on your tax return? To determine if you are receiving a refund on your Federal Form 1040, you will have a dollar amount reported on line 20 for a refund.
