&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;New York State has an equivalent of the federal injured spouse status, which
is reported on New York &lt;B&gt;Form IT-280, Nonobligated Spouse Allocation.&lt;/B&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;You can complete this form in
TurboTax:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;OL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;While in your New York
     return, you will see a screen&lt;I&gt;, Additional Tax Situations.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/I&gt;Click on the &lt;B&gt;Start&lt;/B&gt; box next to &lt;B&gt;Prevent your
     credits from going to a debt owed by your spouse.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/B&gt;&lt;I&gt;&lt;/I&gt;&lt;I&gt;[See
     Screenshot #1, below.]&lt;/I&gt;
&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;On the
     screen,&lt;I&gt; Are You a Nonobligated Spouse&lt;/I&gt;, click the &lt;B&gt;Yes&lt;/B&gt; box.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;On the
     next screen, &lt;I&gt;Who is the Nonobligated Spouse&lt;/I&gt;, mark the circle next
     to the correct name and click &lt;B&gt;Continue&lt;/B&gt;.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;On the &lt;B&gt;Check
     Your Qualifications &lt;/B&gt;screen, mark &lt;B&gt;&lt;I&gt;all &lt;/I&gt;&lt;/B&gt;the&lt;B&gt;&lt;I&gt; &lt;/I&gt;&lt;/B&gt;boxes
     that apply.&amp;nbsp;&lt;I&gt; [Screenshot #2]&lt;/I&gt;
&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;On the
     next screen you will be asked to allocate income that belongs to the&lt;I&gt;
     injured spouse&lt;/I&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Click &lt;B&gt;Continue&lt;/B&gt; when finished.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;You will be brought back
     to the &lt;I&gt;Additional Tax Situations&lt;/I&gt; screen.&amp;nbsp; Click on the box &lt;B&gt;Done
     with Other Forms&lt;/B&gt;.&lt;/LI&gt;
