Early bird discounts ended as of March 1. There is some tiny print that tells you the fee is subject to change.... To avoid the state e-file fee that is a part of using desktop software you can print, sign and mail your stater return.

I though that when I bought the TurboTax with State filing included there wouldn't be added charges.

Maybe that was the case several years ago but not lately. It also states 19.99 on the box but you get charged 24.99 plus tax.

It's not a lot of money but not what I expected.

Sorry the early discounted prices expired on Feb 29, 2020. March 1, 2020 there was a price increase. The CD box says prices are subject to change. The prices always change around March 1. So I try to file before then.

And see my screen shot on this one

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/re-amount-charged-for-state-filing/01/1254662

Every March the early prices expire and increase. In the Desktop CD/Download program the State Efile fee is 19.99 but increases to 24.99.

But there will be a delay in Desktop program between March 1 when the price goes up and the next time the program update comes out, usually on Thursdays. It will show the 19.99 price but you be charged 24.99.
