You can now downgrade with the Clear and Start Over feature but bear in mind that the different TurboTax "flavors" handle different tax situations and their associated forms.

For example, if you want to downgrade from Deluxe to Federal Free Edition and you're itemizing (Schedule A), you can clear and start over with the free edition, but once you enter your itemized deductions in the free edition, you'll be asked to upgrade to Deluxe.

Here is a short list of some common tax situations and the online products that now uniquely support them:

· Itemized Deductions (Schedule A/1040)- Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business

· Capital Gains or Losses (Schedule D) - Premier and Home & Business

· Rental Income (Schedule E) - Premier and Home & Business

· Net Profit from Business (Schedule C-EZ) - Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business

· Profit or Loss from Business (Schedule C) - Home & Business

If you are looking at TurboTax Federal Free Edition, keep in mind that this version is intended for taxpayers with very simple returns (Form 1040EZ filers with the standard deduction), for example first-time filers and students.

To delete TurboTax Self-Employed you will need to clear and start over. You can do this by following these steps:

In your 2016 tax return up at the top of your page hover over "My Account" and click on "Clear and Start Over"
On the "are you sure you want to clear your return" answer yes

After you click on yes everything will be clear from your return and you will need to re-enter everything back in.

I can find no way to my Lyft cancel my TurboTax self employed subscription? I am no longer a Lyft driver, and monthly deductions are still being taken from my checking account

In your return, try to clear and start over and see if that will give you an option to start for free.

If you have not paid, you can simply use the "Clear and Start"feature. Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

Sign in to your account, select Pick up where you left off
To your left, select Tools, click on the drop-down menu
Select Clear and Start Over

If you have already paid, you cannot change the version.

It depends.

The way you report the 1099-MISC will depend upon whether you earned the income as part of a business or not.

If you are reporting this income as self-employment income (meaning you are running a business with the intent to make a profit), you will do the following in the Federal interview section:

Select Income & Expenses
Select Self-employment income and expenses
Proceed through the screens to enter your information
When you see the following for income, make sure to select Other self-employed income. Includes 1099-K, cash, and checks.

If it is not from self-employment, you would enter the information as follows:

Select Income & Expenses
Go to the  All Income section and select Less Common Income
Select Miscellaneous Income

You will then select Other reportable income to enter your income from your 1099-Misc. Be sure to mark that it was not earned as part of business.

So if it's already registered and signed the self-employed tax upgrade $130 and been e-filed and accepted do I need to amend my return or will its see that no business nor self-employment earnings and expenses made, will they default it to regular 1040 or amended, but seriously how bout Turbo Tax who fooled me into one of their prompted messages and upgrades without even asking, no reason to upgrade me I was dumb thinking they were just charging for me returning to file turbo tax again... Then bam, I e-filed and noticed self-employed tax return, can turbo tax reimburse at least half the turbo tricky upgrades with no actual reason?!?!? I'm a huge TurboTax fan been using several years now but keeps getting more upgrade scenarios than tax forms!!?!?!??

I accidently downloaded Turbotax Home & Business when in fact I needed the deluxe disc. Now I'm stuck with both dics and I am unable to delete the Home & office so that I can imput the deluxe. Somebody tell what to do. It keeps asking me to enter the Lic. code for the Home & office and I'm stuck with time running out to get my taxes done.
