More than likely she is not providing over one half the cost to maintain the household for the entire year so would not qualify for Head of Household so would file as Single with a dependent.

My friends daughter lives with him. She is 30 years old, works and has a son. She lives in the same home with her dad. He does not provide any support for her. She pays for all her and her son's own expenses and her father pays for all his expenses. Can she file as head of household? Or does she have to file single with a dependent? Her father files single with no dependents.

Thanks. I just found out that she doesn't live with her father anymore. I was under the assumption that she did. I will get more details and repost the updated question.
