Form 8615 - Over 18

I am being forced to wait for Form 8615 even though I am over 18 and have been since 2018. I’m not sure why I’m supposed to wait for a form that doesn’t apply to me and at first the app said it’ll be ready the 5th of February but now it says the 12th. Again, I’m not sure how this applies to me and it’s frustrating.

Form 8615, Tax for Certain Children Who Have Unearned Income, is for the so-called Kiddie Tax. If you are convinced it does not apply to you, you can try deleting the form.

"Form 8615 must be filed for anyone who meets all of the following conditions.

You had more than $2,200 of unearned income.
You are required to file a tax return.
You were either: a. Underage 18 at the end of 2019, b. Age 18 at the end of 2019 and didn’t have earned income that was more than half of your support, or c. A full-time student at least age 19 and under age 24 at the end of 2019 and didn’t have earned income that was more than half of your support. (Earned income is defined later. Support is defined below.)
At least one of your parents was alive at the end of 2019.
You don’t file a joint return for 2019.

These rules apply if you’re legally adopted or a stepchild. These rules also apply whether or not you’re a dependent. These rules don’t apply if neither of your parents were living at the end of the year."

To Delete Form 8615:

In the left-hand black menu, choose Tax Tools, then Tools.
Click on Delete a Form from the window that pops up.
You should now see the Review Form List. Scroll down the list and click Delete on Form 8615.
You may get a pop up telling you additional worksheets and forms are being deleted. Approve and click delete.
You should come back to the Review Form List. Scroll to the bottom and click Continue with My Return.

For the life of me, I am following the instructions to delete form 8615 and it is not deleting. I've also restarted and the form automatically generates again. The form does not apply to me. Please help!!!

Try blanking out the entries for Form 8615,Tax for Certain Children Who Have Unearned Income, first, and then deleting.

To blank out the entries on Form 8615:

You should be signed in and working in TurboTax Online
In the black menu to the left, click on Federal
Then click on Income and Expenses
Scroll all the way to the bottom, click on Show More under Less Common Income.
Click on Start or Revisit for Childs Income (under 24)

Walkthrough and make sure there are no entries for this part of the program. Then go ahead and delete the Form 8615 again.

How do I delete form 8615 on a Mac? It's populating when I enter my taxable fellowship income on a 1099-misc and I can't override it

To delete form 8615 on Mac:

Switch to Forms mode.
In the left pane, select the form you want to remove (if you don't see it, click Open Form at the top).
From the Forms menu, select Remove [form name].
Follow any on-screen instructions to remove the form or forms.

When I follow these instruction the form(s) automatically reappear, and I am unable to see the forms to delete them before they are populated

If the form keeps coming back, it is because you have answered an interview question that requires the form 8615.

The conditions for form 8615 are well explained by DeanM15 above. Please review the questions.

The rules can apply to you even if you are not a dependent of another taxpayer.
