Oh no. What happened was Santa Barbara Tax Products Group put a hold on my tax return today to verify my identity due to "unusual account activity". Even though it was accepted by the IRS last Monday on January 27, 2020. I read in a posting that TPG does this on behalf of the IRS to verify your identity before they're finished processing your tax return & just before the IRS relinquishes the funds to you. Does that mean that my tax return was on the verge of being approved before TPG put a hold on my tax return to verify my identity?

If so, does that mean once the hold is removed via identity verification, will my tax return be approved?

No. Your remaining federal and entire state refund (minus any agreed upon fees) will be deposited to your Turbo Card when the IRS or state tax authorities distribute your refund (usually within 21 days from IRS acceptance).

My situation was resolved when I received an e-mail today from TPG stating the hold on my tax return was released.
