Each year is new software. You cannot use 2018 software to prepare a 2019 tax return. You must use 2019 software. You can purchase a download from the TT site, or from many retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Sam's, Walmart, Best Buy, etc.

You can't put your 2019 wages on your 2018 return.

You have to start a new return for 2019, and enter only 2019 information into that return.

Whaat---that does not even make sense. What 2018 return are you putting income on? You cannot use online software for 2018--at all. It is done for--kaput--gone---finished. The only 2018 software you can use is desktop software that you download/install to a full PC or Mac.

The software that is available online is ONLY for 2019 income. Do you mean you entered 2018 income on that program?

In the CD/Download version, you can prepare as many federal returns as you want. Up to five can be e-filed. Additional returns must be printed and mailed.

To start a new return:

Select File from the top left corner and select New Tax return.

Save your return.

Select Start a new return.
