I don't know what lhss stands for but on my W-2 there was no box d control number so it was left blank in TT.

It stands for In Home Support Services. I’m a caregiver. It doesn’t give me the option to leave it blank but there’s no control number. It just says CA-SDI

I tried to enter five digitals per the link instructions, 12345, 67890, 99999, and 12123, but all did not work.

When you say "but all did not work", do you mean that you are receiving and error message when you Review? Or do you mean something else?

Please clarify.

IRS form W-2 box d Control number does not have to be entered in the software.

IRS General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3 page 16 states:

Box d—Control number

You may use this box to identify individual Forms W-2. You do not have to use this box

Some W2 form like IHSS do not have control number. you can not import it. have to manually enter the information.

Did you try leaving the box blank? As suggested in the FAQ link "I have no box D or Control Number on my W-2," you only want to try and enter any number in that 5-digit format if you are receiving errors when attempting to e-file.
