When I try to enter 1099 R data the program tells me that the government is updating the form and it will be available 1/21/2020 which was last week. I update every time I start up.

I am having the same problem, why doesn't turbotax answer this, went online, nothing about it, Why? The help screens are all garbage, ignore the question and answer a different question

Had the same problem. Kept waiting for 1/21/2020 update. You must turn your virus/web protection programs off to allow the update to come in. Shut your protection programs off and select "online" from the TT menu at top of page and select updates. Restart TT should be able to enter 1099-R info

Exactly what message are you getting? There should be no issue entering a 1099-R. If you need a 8606 form then that is scheduled for 2/12.
