As you have stated the early release of the TurboTax software for 2019 needs to be updated.

The 2019 software will have many updates before it can be used to file a 2019 tax return sometime after January 1, 2020. The IRS has yet to approve many forms and schedules for tax year 2019 so TurboTax cannot be used to complete a 2019 tax return until the IRS approves all the forms and schedules for 2019.

Make sure that you have your preferences set to update whenever you start the program.

Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen. Click on Updater Preferences. Select Automatically if not already selected.

Of course, but the 2019 social security wage information isn't waiting for anything. It has been known all year long. We aren't talking about some unpublished IRS form.

Cannot say why the 2019 program did not update the 2109 wage and taxes for Social Security with the initial release. Just know the software will be updated before the IRS starts to accept any type of 2019 tax return in late January 2020.

Patience will be needed while thousands of changes need to be done ... and of course the IRS changed the forms again which is also more to deal with. The new program is NEVER EVER up to speed before late January and many things will not be operational well into February or later.

In my opinion they should not distribute any undeveloped program but the users demand the program be released early so they get what they asked for ... an incomplete semi operational beta version ... and all just to capture the market share by locking in users.
