Yes, you can upgrade later if necessary. You can upgrade at any time using the Upgrade button inside the program. I included a screenshot below showing this button. I recommend you start in Deluxe and then only upgrade to Premier (you will need Premier if you have investment sales or rental activity) if necessary. This is because it is far easier to upgrade than to downgrade later on (involves clearing out your whole return).

Yes, you can downgrade by clearing and starting over (this will erase all the info you’ve entered in your return so far). Keep in mind that you won't be able to do this if you've already submitted payment or deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund.
