but when i try to install it, it says:

turbo tax cannot be installed on win 7

which is right?

Did it actually say "turbo tax cannot be installed on win 7"? Is that the exact wording of the message that you got? Or did you get the following window, which strongly urges you to upgrade to Windows 10, but gives you the option to install in Windows 7? See the last paragraph of the warning, and the two buttons at the bottom.

Several TurboTax FAQs say it can be installed in Windows 7. I will ask the moderators what's going on. I'll post back here when I get any information.

What edition of TurboTax are you installing - Basic, Deluxe, Premier, or Home & Business?

Does your Windows system have Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed?

tt2019 premier

win7pro64 w/sp1 16Gb, core i7

installing from a download

bought on the tt site https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

btw, i spent > an hour talking to tt support today and they couldn't figure it out. they also couldn't get their screen share prog [glance] to work. they sent me a fresh installer .exe which yielded the same result.

Is the name of your installer w_turbotax_1040_prm_2019.061.0100.exe or something different? That's the name of my installer, which did give me the option to install. My TT Premier edition and my OS are exactly the same as yours. If the version number in the name of the .exe is different, maybe it's a bad version.

As RocketJSquirrel mentioned above, version 2019.061.0100 is the current download installation file. Is that in your file name? If you used the very first original installation file for 2019, maybe they have changed something in the current download that is now compatible with Windows 7. If you are using a CD, it would have the old original installation file on it.

Also, be sure you are installing using administrator privilege.

Your version number was mistaken for a phone number and redacted by the forum software. Is it the same as mine? If not, please type it in with the numbers separated.
