topic Canadian with IRA witholding tax overpayment in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I am a Canadian citizen with a Fidelity inherited IRA DBA and have 30% witholding tax deducted but the tax treaty only allows 15% to be witheld. Fidelity won't change the deduction and both Fidelity and Canadian Revenue Agency say I have to file a US tax return to claim it back. I am filing for a US tax ID # and want to know which Turbotax product to use for the purpose of filing for this overpayment? I will have to claim for 2017 and 2018 and the 2019 payment which will arrive soon. Can I do multiple years or do I have to file individually for each year? Which product will work? I have no other US income.

1. "both Fidelity and Canadian Revenue Agency say I have to file a US tax return to claim it back" - this is true.

2. "Can I do multiple years or do I have to file individually for each year?" - you will file individually for each year.

3. "Which product will work?" - Follow dmertz's link above.

4. Although we Americans will be sad to see your tax dollars leave the country, I wish you luck with a simple and straightforward refund process...
