I'm a college student and filing my taxes is too expensive. The turbo tax fees are more than my refund. I just realize I never came back before the tax deadline to complete my taxes. How do I go by getting a discount off the fees or a service code.

Please help this college student.

@LexieBoogie - Service codes are not issued for those reasons. You probably should not be using the paid version at all.

You might be able to use the Free File (formally called Freedom Edition) for incomes under $34,000 and supports all states and most forms.

The Free File is part of the IRS Free File alliance and is totally separate from TurboTax website.

You can also access the Free File tax alliance programs via the IRS website.

You can view this FAQ link for more information on service codes and affiliate discounts.

Service codes are used for specific reasons and will be given to you while on the phone with support help.

Affiliate discounts come from places like your bank or brokerage.

Service codes are special codes, provided by support specialist for specific reasons.

@Lolalolis For assistance with this, you can call TurboTax and speak with an agent. TurboTax customer service/support does not have a single phone number but has many different phone numbers based on the type of platform used. So that we can direct your call to the best person/department to help you:

Click on this link: Contact Us
Select your TurboTax platform.
Ask your question / state your problem. Do NOT use the word "refund' or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.
Click Submit.
On the next screen, choose the Call option and follow the instructions. You will be given the approximate wait time.

You'll get a toll-free number to a TurboTax expert who is specially-trained to handle your particular issue.
