Im trying to do my 2017 w2 taxes and i put all the information in and its saying this is for my 2018 w2 how do i do 2017

Did you file it from online yet? If you did you have a big problem. And Did you file 2018 yet?

You can only buy the download for prior years. You have to buy a separate program for each year. They only sell the last 3 years. You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it on. Buy the download here

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.

Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. You have 3 years to file for a refund. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

The current online product is only for tax year 2018. To prepare a 2017 tax return, you must buy, download and install on a computer the software for the 2017 tax return. Here is where you can buy it: https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A 2017 tax return must be printed, signed and mailed. It cannot be efiled. You should mail it using a tracking service so that you know for sure that the IRS and your state received it. Federal and state must be mailed in separate envelopes since they go to different taxing bodies.

The online version of TurboTax is only for the current tax filing year. The current tax filing year is for tax year 2018 and that's it. That will expire on or about Oct 15, 2019.

To complete a prior year tax return you have no choice but to purchase and install the CD version on your Windows or Mac computer. You can purchase it at https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

*MAKE* *SURE* you are under the correct tab for the tax year you need. If you purchase the product for the wrong tax year, you own it.

After you pay for it, you can download the installation file to your computer. After you download it, exit all programs and then double-click on the downloaded file to install it on your computer.

If on a MAC, drag the downloaded file to your Applications folder to install it.
