      <description>&lt;P&gt;No you cannot use TurboTax to prepare a 2016 state return since you did not use TT to prepare your 2016 federal return.&amp;nbsp; TurboTax cannot be used to prepare a "stand alone" state return.&amp;nbsp; If you paid a tax preparer to prepare your 2016 return then that person should take care of your 2016 state return for you, even now.&amp;nbsp; Or if you have a copy of the 2016 federal return--which you certainly should-- then get the form from the state and prepare the 2016 state return yourself by hand.&amp;nbsp; You need the federal return in front of you to do it because you will need information from it.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;
