For 2018 the IRS description for business code 485300 has been updated to "Taxi, limousine, & ridesharing service." That clarifies that this is the correct code for an Uber or other ridesharing driver.

Codes 485310 and 485320 are not in the IRS list of principal business codes in the instructions for Schedule C. The code on Schedule C is supposed to come from the list in the Schedule C instructions, not from other lists of business classification codes.

The IRS instructions for Schedule C say "Enter on line B the six-digit code from the Principal Business or Professional Activity Codes chart at the end of these instructions."
