My daughter is 21 and a full time college student which we paid for. She is studying full time in England and has for the past four years. My son John is 17 and is a full time HS student. Our third daughter, Annie is 26 and living back at home. We pay all of her expenses. Turbo Tax is telling me that none of my children qualify as dependents. How can this be?

Your 26 year-old is not able to be claimed if she made more then $4,050 during the year.

Otherwise, you have incorrectly answered one or more of the dependent questions. Return to the Personal info tab, and edit each one to review your answers. Most commonly, when people see the question asking if the child provided more then 1/2 their own support, they answer Yes, thinking the question is asking if the parents provided over 1/2 of support. The other common error lies in answering how long the child lived with you. Time spent away at school is considered as time living with you.

Read the questions carefully as you go through.
