I have a health exchange insurance plan & a change in circumstances. Is it best to update the change now or wait until I file my tax return?

What kind of change in circumstances? You probably should report it now. If your income or the number of people in your household has changed, you have to notify the exchange now. See the following link for a list of other changes that you have to report to the exchange.
